Simian Mobile Disco in CGI Art Gallery
IDEA: Matching abstract sculptures and paintings with electronic music, within a music video.
WHAT: Simian Mobile Disco return from a two-year hiatus with their video for 'Staring At All This Handle'. For the release, the London-based electronic music twosome enlisted artist and director Jack Featherstone, a regular collaborator, to create a video that sees a twisted human encounter unfold in a CGI gallery filled with Memphis Group-esque artefacts.
WHY: It connects music and visual art in an innovative way. Where Beyonce shows David Hammons and Richard Prince paintings in her video, Simian Mobile Disco created their own world of contemporary art. Would the next step be creating these artworks for real?
