iOS Development is fun

This past summer marked my "let's do it" moment for iOS development. It's been charming, fulfilling a side of creativity I haven't flexed since C++ years ago.

There are ups and downs - mostly ups - to working with code that translates directly to an interface you can touch.

I wanted to share this article with you from Jack Groetzinger over at SeatGeek. He discusses the surprises when designing an iPhone app. All good stuff.

My favorite part:

On the web, a designer is often comfortable with frontend markup. HTML/CSS are accessible and easy to learn, even for those without a programming background. Objective-C is not. So on the iPhone, the technology draws a bigger barrier between the person creating the design and the person implementing it. Iterating on the interface involves more friction [4].

Here's to hoping this is remedied as time goes on. Would be nice to develop natively in a more fluid fashion.
