Jack seeing Eddie turn to the bottle in the early 1930s. Jack questioning it. Jack having to deal with the same feeling of Carlo drifting apart and moving away from what once used to be their clique, but dealing with it in a relatively healthy way, since he has a lot of other stuff going on (particularly his own love interest/wife, family, business). Eddie lacks all of this, he doesn’t have anything else.

Jack being the Tommy (with another way/another life possible, with a stability outside of THE family), Carlo being the Sam (doing what *has* to be done, no matter the cost), and Eddie being the Paulie, left behind with no-one and nothing to cling to

jack’s so polite and even-tempered i have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact he used to run booze...but also it’s hilarious to imagine eddie doing something stupid behind the wheel while they’re getting chased by hijackers or something and jack yelling and cussing him out in italian that eddie only half understands

thinking about jack calling marty "mr. santorelli" with the same level of seriousness he would any of the other guys and marty's face lighting up immediately. he then immediately gets turned down when he tries to order a beer

I’m going through the audio files to find any new info about Jack, but so far, I only realized that he’s very polite, calls Vito “Mr. Scaletta” and refers to Carlo as “Mr. Falcone”, and has this whole personality of someone serving them. He also constantly calls Vito “sir” but gets annoyed when Vito comes to close, then he’s like “What is it, Mr. Scalette, do you need any help?” (but sounds pissed off)

then there’s also a line “Mr. Scaletta, if something was said (that upset you), I’m sorry.”

i genuinely believe he likes Vito, because there are literally so many lines of him just saying stuff like “Always my pleasure, Mr. Scaletta” and “I’m happy to see you, Mr. Scaletta” again and again.

then there are the hilarious lines for him when Vito smells like shit in Chapter 9 (”Mr. Scaletta, please, go home to take a shower, you really, really smell”). then there’s one - which I’m not sure if it is in the game or not? - but it goes like “Mr. Scaletta - oh, what has happened to you?” (I’m not sure if it’s still for when Vito smells like shit?)

and then there are lines like “That’s on the house”, “From Mr. Falcone”, “You know, sir, drinking so much coffee won’t do you any good”, “I haven’t seen anyone drink this much coffee even back home in Italy” (which would imply he’s actually from Italy?), and of course “I hope it won’t offend you but...don’t you think you’ve had enough?” (I guess that’s similar to what he says to Eddie)

also I think it’s nice how in Freddy’s bar, Fred actually calls Vito just simply “Vito” and is much more informal, while Jack (probably to keep up the appearence of the place) is all proper and official

hm thinking abt falcone and eddie getting closer over the years while eddie and jack start drifting apart.. :) jack still counts eddie as a friend but he can probably see the cracks faster than anyone

but oh, god, you’re right.  they used to be best friends, but now that role definitely falls to carlo (almost a sam/paulie/tommy type deal, though this wasn’t jack’s fault).  when finally he gets out of prison, things just...aren’t what they were, and eddie’s definitely still a friend, but jack misses him.
