Jack Pale
Jack was brought as a very young baby from Camelot to Carolinus. He stayed most of his life with him, studying in the library. We met on a trip out to Niblum.
He has a small horse he keeps in his pocket, that somehow turns into a full sized horse that he can ride. I watched him numerous times in fascination as he would snap his fingers and clean himself off with magic. It was actually how I learned the spell prestidigitation. If it's magical, he is really the person to go to and discuss it with.
During our travels, he was able to take on an elemental named Brim. This little thing has a fiery reputation that has been more than helpful. He seems to be very evil, but Jack has very good control over him.
I never thought about a wizard using a sword, but Jack does. He was interested in becoming a musketeer when we first heard about it when we were preparing to go to Tanis. He already had the plumy hat!
I think he has come out of his shell a lot. He knows about forging, enchanting, plants, making scrolls, and just seems to be a well-rounded individual. I think I'd like to spend some time picking his brain, but quite often we don't have that sort of time. I'm off in one direction, and he's deciphering the magical parts getting back to everyone. I wonder if this frustrates him sometimes or if he enjoys it?
When we rescued the ladies from the brothel, they wanted to know if whoever manned the greenhouse could help with the weeds in the front lawn. He was very upset that they thought he was a gardener. But did say that he knew how to deal with the plants in question.
He seems genuinely loyal and has a good heart.
New notes:
Something strange has happened between us... As we tried to capture the Destiny, Jack died during the fight. I know because I was there holding his body. I wanted more than anything for him to come back and sang hoping it would return his soul to give him another chance to fulfill his destiny. I was so distraught for him. He had spoke of his dreams and aspirations earlier that day with me. Somehow his eyes opened and he came back. Since then he has been compelled to sing whenever I sing. It has certainly been an interesting affair and I wonder if maybe I gave up a part of my soul to give him more time. I just hope he isn't too annoyed with me over it.
