Oh boy, all kinds of things, when I was younger I even used pencils to mark my books, then receipts, leaves, strings, I always buy a book on the airport when I’m flying, so I use my boarding pass as a bookmark, which is a good way to keep it in your sight at all times and assure that it doesn’t bend. I started collecting bookmarks couple of years ago so I rarely use anything not-bookmarky.
