Liafoss and Nokkar, the polar deities of Long Days and Long Nights
The two loving deities of the poles of the planet, Liafoss is the dragon of long days, and Nokkar is the dragon of long nights. Each resides in a palace of snow and ice at opposite ends of the planet, and they are said to have switched places each Solstice, and the Equinox is celebrated as the day the two star-crossed lovers are able to meet face to face. Those that worship them traditionally take a pilgrimage to the opposite pole to where they live and back. It is believed that all people have someone to whom they are soul-bound to, usually born at the same time, but on the opposite side of the planet. A lover met at the other end of a pilgrimage will be a long lasting relationship, full of affection, but also the hardship of distance.
