Vision was not nervous to be going out on another mission. Nervous was the wrong word. Cautious, uncertain, concerned... those were better ones. He understood the need for not only precise but strong weaponry to combat forces might be guarding whatever weapons were being created from the tesseract by H.Y.D.R.A., but stealth was not exactly his strong suit. Nevertheless, rather than sending out an entire team of folks to address this pressing problem, the Avengers decided to send one of their trusted agents out with Vision to hopefully cleanly and quietly take care of it before things got too far out of hand. Without careful handling of the problem collateral damage in the form of innocent life might be high, and that definitely worried him. Things never seemed to go as planned.
Vision was powerful but so inexperienced as far as working as an Avenger. His mannerisms and general social presence were a little odd yet still passable around humans, but his appearance would unfortunately not blend in anywhere. Thus, he was charged with developing a disguise for himself that would allow him to walk among humans relatively undetected, at least by sight.
It took a few days of practice as well as trial and error, but he managed to create a more human visage for himself, complete with skin and hair and clothes. For all intent and purpose, though, he looked human enough. He was even able to mask the very mechanical appearance of his eyes. Once all of this was accomplished, he was ready for field work.
Arriving at the agent’s door, Vision knocked, not having all that much in the way of preparations needed before he was ready to go. They could leave at any time, but of course he would wait if she was not yet ready. He had not had much contact with her yet, an agent by the name of Jackie Myers, and so perhaps proper introductions were in order. Forgetting entirely that he had his human appearance already employed and that she might not even recognize him, he waited patiently for her to open it. When she did, he smiled politely.
“Good morning, Miss Myers. We are to work together on an upcoming mission, as you know, and yet we have never spoken. I thought it prudent that we get to know each other a little before we embark. I would be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have about working with me,” he offered, eagerly to facilitate cooperation between them. As always, Vision was far more socially formal than he needed to be...
