Some years ago, I met this kid online. She was a teenager. Smart Black girl in a very hostile fandom for Black girls and I decided, "Well. She can't really be left alone with these wolves." And so, like so many random kids online before her, she wound up in my little net.
Do any of you know people online who you met as kids, well, in my case when they were kids, and the years start coming and they don't stop coming? They turn into adults. They become independent. They age, learn, grow, evolve, and elevate each year.
Sometimes, they move on and whatever you had with them is no longer present, but there's no animosity or bitterness. In fact, as they continue to rise, towards their apex, you even sometimes get to see that ascension in real time.
It's amazing. I love being able to meet someone and being allowed to keep seeing the ways that they become more and more of themselves every year, and all the times we're allotted to do so in between.
Happy Birthday @jacksope-lives Everything that you are, as great as all of that is, I know is only a glimmer of what you eventually become. I'm so excited to witness the years to come.
