"My battery is low and it's getting dark" is now the subject of memes, YouTube videos and T-shirts.
In a twist that should surprise no one, it turns out the Rover never said its famous last words.
That sentence was invented by a journalist out of thin fucking air.
That’s why it sounded so human.
Because it fucking was.
Now can we please go back to considering the Rover a stunning piece of technology whose battery ran out? Because that’s pretty amazing in and of itself, without the need to imagine it had a complex inner life or ‘died’ in any way.
"My battery is low and it's getting dark" is now the subject of memes, YouTube videos and T-shirts.
Rest in Peace, Opportunity.
