Opportunity rover looks at tracks left behind on Martian terrain during the 19 km (12 mi) trek from Victoria crater to Endeavour crater. Colored navigation camera image, 2010
More Pacific drive doodles while I gather notes and work on other things before week 3 for the Driver.
Oppy is going through a molt again, and my husbun is very excited to be able to peel him again.
To reiterate and for those watching without sound: barely any force is being put into plucking the fur, it's coming out easily and without hurting Oppy. It does seem to tickle him a lot though, hence the wiggling. Usually I have my hand cupping his chin and he gives me a bunch of kisses while the plucking happens. Once he hops away, we take that as him saying he's had enough and leave him be. He also got a treat after this.
I assume it's because he's part angora that his fur is so pluckable, because none of our other rabbits have molted like this at all. We had a heat wave a couple weeks ago that might've triggered this, and we're having another heat wave in about a week and some change, so itll probably help him a lot to lose some of his dense fur before that hits.
He does end up looking hella scraggly though lol
Fluff collected from just a minute of plucking. It's a shame I can't try to spin it.
This picture is from his last molt, about 3 years ago.
(Husbun peeled him back then too, much to their shared delight.)
I adore them with my whole heart
