What’s your Name and what do you do at Titmouse? 

Jacob Ospa. Animator and character layout artist.

How did you get a job at Titmouse and how long have you been at Titmouse?

Superjail! season 2 was in production and they needed a few more hands on deck. My awesome friend James Sugrue suggested me. I took a test in January 2011. I think it was January. It's kind of hard to remember. I didn't hear anything for a while and assumed I didn't get the job. Then, in March 2011 they told me to come in and I've been here pretty much ever since.

3: What projects have you worked on at Titmouse?

Superjail!, China, Il, Metalocalypse, Sesame Street: Growing Hope Against Hunger and Captain Super Ultra Mega Smile Man, 'Tallica Parking Lot, and some pilots here and there.

What is your favorite memory from your time at Titmouse?

There was a party at the studio some time ago. Christy Karacas was dancing on a table, and my friend James comes along and starts tossing dollar bills at him like he's at a strip club or something.

What is your favorite Shirt?

I have this shirt from the Maryland Shakespeare Festival. It says something along the lines of "not your grandpa's Shakepeare" on the back. I think the shirt amuses me because I've never actually been to the Maryland Shakespeare Festival, and I'm not entirely sure where the shirt actually came from. I think my mom gave it to me because it was too big or something, but I can't really remember.

What’s your favorite short?

That's like asking someone to name their favorite child. I can't choose. But Tex Avery is my favorite director and the Fleischer Studio is my favorite classic shorts studio.

What kind of personal projects do you do?

Nothing until Superjail! season 4 is done. I was working on some ideas of my own. I have some ideas for a series and a short, but had to put those on hold. I hope to continue working on my own ideas again once this show is over. I like to draw and alter the Flash files on projects I'm working on. I also like to mess with other people's animation files when they're away from their desks.

Were can people find your stuff on the internet?

I have an ancient website that I haven't updated in 5 years www.jacobospa.com. I should probably do something about that. My graduation film can still be seen on Cartoon Brew TV. And my last year's 5 Second Day can be seen here.

I'm also starting a Vimeo account. I promise.

What would you make if you were filthy rich?

I would make some kind of animated series probably. Or maybe the world's largest still life sculpture in the middle of the desert.

Other than your stuff what are you really digging right now?

Graves. Lots and lots of graves. I've been looking at old Carl Barks stuff lately. I'm also on kind of a Star Trek kick right now. Don't judge me.

What really inspires you?

Everything. And nothing. And all the amazing work I see around me everyday.

Who is an artist you are really excited about today?

Ah, there are so many to choose from today. Rebecca Sugar is probably one of the most amazing animation people working today. When I saw her thesis back in 2009, I practically crapped my pants.

Jacob wasn't going to participate in this last year's 5 Second Day because he was feeling burnt out. This is not surprising since Jacob is one of our wunderkin animators who does it all. He saw that everyone else was making one, so he felt had to. Since he didn't have an idea ready to go he used a doodle that was just lying around on his computer. Sometimes inspiration can be found in the most unlikely of places, and we are so glad that is can. One of my personal favorites from this last year. Dog drools.
