Jadan is the apprentice of Erlang Shen who has been trained to hunt demons since birth. He is a master archer, and isn't bad with a spear either. Erlang found him when he was a baby, and rescued him from the clutches of a vile demon king, training him to serve the court of Heaven and protect the Jade Emperor.

During his training, Jadan discovered he had the unique ability to control shadows, and even travel within them if he so wished. He used this ability carefully, hiding it from his teachers and the court of Heaven.

Now, where did Jadan come from, and why does he have these powers?

Well you see - Erlang may have left out a few details regarding his discovery of Jadan. The demons who Erlang "rescued" him from were none other than Sun Wukong, and Liu-Er Mihou; Jadan's parents.
