Brief preview of what I bought in Muji/various stationery stores when I went to Japan! There’s a lot more notebooks and pens, sticky notes and other things that aren’t pictured because they just can’t fit in the photo. Japan was honestly a stationery-lover’s paradise for half the price of Australia!!

2017年11月23日: Working even though HSC has been over for a month! Interviews are next week, also trying to do my Japanese as I’ve been neglecting it and will be there in less than a month (omg!!!). Ambitiously also trying to relearn maths/english so I can tutor as well- I haven’t done maths in over a year, so this should be fun!

Since I did 17 before 2017, I wanted to do an 18 before 2018 as a personal checklist! 1. Work hard: explanatory, work hard and spend time doing the things you have to to get where you want to be 2. Love yourself: self care goes a long way, healthy body is a healthy mind! 3. Mental health: Do the things that make you happy to be alive, don’t sweat the small stuff and always choose mental health over study if it’s severely affecting you 4. Try something new: it’s a new year, don’t stick to what you know and experiment, whether it’s learning a language or skill, changing up your study style or travelling somewhere. You learn a bunch of new things. 5. Meet someone new: you learn so much from different perspectives, try to talk to someone you never have or you have little interaction with- you’ll be surprised how close you can get. 6. Record your memories: whether it’s taking photos or snap chatting or writing in a diary, you will look back and not regret (too much) seeing what you were up to in 2018 7. Treat yourself: at least once, because you deserve it (or hopefully you do, if you work hard!) 8. Have one lavish meal: doesn’t need to be incredibly expensive, but you’ll remember it for a long time, go out with your friends and enjoy it. 9. Discipline over motivation, it’s too fleeting to rely on motivation. 10. Know what’s happening in the world around you: read the news, scroll your feed- everything affects everything else. 11. Go out of your comfort zone: Doing something that you’re not necessarily comfortable with and facing your fear will make you come out less afraid. 12. Know to prioritise: go out with your friends if you’ve been studying all day and need a break, and know when to hunker down and study if your test is too important. 13. Complain less: Realistically, you’re not going to stop complaining, but try to stop when you realise it and go with the flow (wow this sounds like a load of BS I’m sorry I’m trying) 14. Appreciate more: same as point 13, you’re so lucky to have education and internet and everything you take for granted, appreciate your life, your friends, your family. 15. Help someone else out: you have so much power as an individual to help another, use it! 16. Be a good friend: be there for the people who you hang out with a lot, they appreciate it more than you ever know. 17. Be less pessimistic: I’m someone who always fears for the worst- but fear for the worst and hope for the best. 18. Celebrate the small things!! You passed that test?? Celebrate it! You so rarely have big moments in your life that it’s worth taking time to see the value in your everyday victories. I hope all of you have a wonderful 2018!!
day 2/50- Now that school is starting again for most, I’ve decided to share with you guys some of my favourite organization tips! These have helped me through my senior years of high school and definitely keep me in check during the stressful times. I’m going to cheat and say this is also part of my 50 day countdown until end of exams!
Make backups of EVERYTHING- Can’t stress this enough. You never know when something will happen to your laptop or phone- short circuiting, dropping water on the keyboard (from experience), crashes the night before- save them on a 1TB passport or USB to keep them safe.
To-do lists- These are my musts for organization, I’m not sure how I would be able to get anything done without the satisfaction of ticking things off the list! If you don’t prefer the pen-and-paper method, there are online to-do lists like Wunderlist that are great as well!
Phone Apps- Having a phone on hand everyday means that you have easy access to your schedule. There are many great apps that allow you to track your day- my favourites being the Timetable app (for class schedules), Wunderlist for my phone, Pocket (for keeping my websites saved) and in particular, Anote (for iPhones!)
Wall Calendar- There are many beautiful printables ontumblr that allow you to visualise this in an aesthetic way. The ones that I personally use are made by @.thearialligraphyproject !
Invest in a good planner!- I’ve owned a planner every single year since I was 10 (goodness knows what I had to do at that age!) but it has helped me be organised and see my schedule on a weekly basis. Whether you present it in a conventional or in a bullet journal, I put any events coming up, my times for after school classes, timetable and any other miscellaneous activities.
And this is where Best Self Co comes in! They have a beautiful 3-month SELF journal that allows you to track what you’re doing daily, plan out over months and plenty of space for planning! Check it out here.
I hope these have helped!
