As explained in the podcast, traditionally in a race, the person who came out absolute last would be rewarded a wooden spoon. Of course, this is taken as a sign of failure, but how you deal with that failure is how you grow.
The Wooden Spoon Podcast is an educational podcast done by four students who have come from multiple journeys in school. They talk about what has gotten them through their classes as well as how they set goals for themselves. They cover topics such as rejection, productivity, and mental health. They made a podcast any student would want to listen to, even including a productivity tip in every episode.
What I like most about this is that these kids aren’t just spooning adult nonsense that we want to hear. What they’re saying is candid and genuine, making me want to listen to more (even though their theme jingle is a bit annoying). They have given me a bit of motivation in school and studies, even a partial influence on me creating this blog. Their personalities fit so well together and were a good choice of an inspirational group.
I feel as though this is one of the most important educational podcasts out there because they are not only teaching you a topic, they are teaching skills. People don’t usually realize how much they need this encouragement or positivity boost until they are exposed to it, and that’s just how I feel. I’ve learned about rejection, I’ve learned the importance of independence, and I’ve learned to recognize everyone needs to face their mental health head on.
The episodes are typically 30-45 minutes, and give a chill vibe for any situation. I typically listen to podcasts on my way to and from school, and The Wooden Spoon offer such a bright start to the day. Their English accents are also adorable and are a change of pace compared to the loud radio announcers I’d typically listen to before I got into podcasts.
Another thing I like and is a nuance to a podcast is each host offers a song that they add to a Spotify playlist at the end of the week. They all have different styles and combined, it’s a bopping playlist. I’m even listening to it as I write this blog post!
I rate this podcast a 9/10 for it’s abundance of knowledge they have to offer, the motivation they provide for the listener, and their positive vibes.
