BIOGRAPHY:
The first thing you need to know is that Katya Kaminski is dead. The second thing you need to know is that Jade Deveraux hasn’t been seen in months.
Jade Deveraux grew up in Toronto, Canada and as an only child, you’d say that Jade was spoiled, but she wasn’t. The Deverauxs were not rich, and they weren’t dirt poor. They were just getting by though and they were all alright with that until one day, they weren’t. They were forced out of their own home as a company bought out the neighborhood to build a new strip mall and Jade’s parents were let go from their jobs as the economy took a turn. The Deverauxs moved from place to place as Jade’s parents found it difficult to find jobs and places to live long term.
Jade grew tired and bored of the mistreatment, being unable to stay in one place, and eventually being neglected by her parents. To fill the gaping hole she felt, she would often times go out at night to hang with older kids and learn how to steal, pick locks and pockets, and the art of the con. It gave her the thrill and adrenaline she’d been searching for and the people around her gave her a sense of belonging while her parents were busy working two and three jobs. As Jade got older, she moved into cons with friends to get more money for herself and her family to pay the bills. She loved the idea of pretending to be someone else and manipulating others to get what she wanted. She loved the sense of control she had and eventually she was hooked.
And just like that, the cons got bigger and bolder. All throughout her time in school, she would use her skills to manipulate others. She would play games with them and mess with her target’s loved ones without considering the consequences. After college, she left home for good and worked with other con-artists. She jumped around, moving from town to town, stealing people’s identities, priceless artwork, and money as she formed her own twisted business with other criminals. The best cons were making people fall in love with her, marry them, and then take them for all they had. It was a tough lifestyle, but it was a hell of a lot of fun and she was good at it. It was better than some nine to five desk job.
Jade was sure to never have anything traced back to them, but eventually, things took a turn. During a stop in Kingsholm, Norway, Jade met a woman named Katya Kaminski who looked just like her. In fact, they were so similar, Jade thought they could be identical twins. The two talked for a while as they waited for their food at a bar and the woman revealed that she’d been searching for her identical triplet sisters who were put up for adoption shortly after they were born. The reason why they were all separated was unclear, but Katya had a theory. She believed that their parents separated them as an experiment, possibly because at least one of them might be a Silver. A Silver…it was something Jade had only heard whispers about, but never believed they were true until that day.
The two continued talking, and upon realizing the woman was loaded from an inheritance her parents left her, Jade decided to make her her next mark before leaving Kingsholm for good. Jade had no attachment to the woman even if they were possibly sisters and she felt resentment towards her after finding out that she was given up along with another sibling, and Katya grew up in a lavish lifestyle with parents who loved and cared for her. She followed the woman home, claiming to be staying nearby. She soon realized that the woman was meeting someone, but disappeared. Jade found the woman shortly afterwards, dying. Jade’s plan was simple. Get Katya’s money and disappear. As she went to grab Katya Kaminski’s wallet, the woman grabbed her and used her last breaths to explain as much as she could.
Katya was involved with a group searching for people who had silver blood. She was tasked with finding the Silvers in town and getting rid of them as they were a danger to society. The kicker? Katya was a Silver and she wasn’t sure if the last sister was also a Silver. Katya wanted to find their last sibling, but had no idea where they were. Only a dead end with her being last seen in Kingsholm. She begged Jade to stay in Kingsholm, to take her place, and find their sibling to protect them…to explain everything, get them to safety, and find their parents to figure out why they were separated. And with that, Katya Kaminski died and Jade was left with a choice: take the money and run or stay and find answers.
Jade’s curious side grew stronger than her greedy side and she picked up Katya’s bag with her wallet. She buried the body of the real Katya Kaminski and then took the keys to her car to drive to her new home. Jade began living as Katya 24/7, which luckily wasn’t difficult as her deceased sister religiously wrote in a journal every night. Everything was going fine until the disappearance and death of a woman named Deborah Edwards who was rumored to be a Silver.
