Book review ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ghost Circus by Adrienne Kress and Jade Zhang

Casey is in a coma but his spirit wanders free. While separated from his body, he stumbles upon the Ghost Circus and meets one of its members who everyone calls "Creepy Girl". She tells Casey that she doesn't know who she was before she died, but that the circus fortune teller prophesied that a lost boy would help her remember. At first, Casey feels used, but he soon agrees to help Creepy Girl because it might help him return to his body.

I was a bit disappointed that we didn't meet many of the other circus members, but the few we did meet were very cool! One in particular really caught my attention: An aerial acrobat called Lady Emerald. Her backstory seems to be inspired by "The Girl With the Green Ribbon" from In a Dark, Dark Room and Other Scary Stories by Alvin Schwartz.

This book's climax begins when Casey and Creepy Girl realize that the ghosts are all trapped in the circus, preventing them from completing their unfinished business. The whole "escaping the circus" plot reminded me of Marionetta by Miriam Bonastre Tur, as well as The Amazing Digital Circus, of course.
