seeing modern au posts floating around make me wonder what kind of Melpomene / "Mel" would be if she had access to the internet and I kind of want her to do something fun/kind of silly like a club DJ since her canon self is already very 'la de da'/'living in her own world' so that carefreeness i think would transfer well to wanting to be environments that emulate that fun-ness….also coated in body glitter she just leaves a trail wherever she goes 🙂↕️

Anyway Melpomene definitely gets commissioned to paint propaganda portraits of the Lannister/Baratheon's and, naturally as these things are, finds inspiration in Tyrion and using him as a muse for most of her works in less-than subtle was (mayybe frequently juxtaposing green and black in her work to reflect his eyes or something of that nature >///<). I think he'd find it a bit jarring at first but entertain her and has her talk to him about her painting process or stories of difficult customers in exchange for him telling her all about dragons or ladies and men of the court he dislikes and all the gossip ™.
Modern! AU (College) where Tyrion and Melpomene are tasked to work on a big cumulative project together for the semester and they both hate the other for trying to undermine their work ("Oh I saw you used this reference but actttttuualllyyy this one does a better job at explaining the overall issue we're trying to express here") but at the same time respect the crazed need to Be A SmartAss.....
Late nights poured over reading fifty different articles and researching and then getting into semi-playful arguments about historical accuracies or what they would have done (i love both of their stupidly large egos) that end with something completely off-topic but still engaging. Probably subtly trying to one-up each other in niche video essays to play in the background
I just think it would be fun to see how they interact in academic setting, they both think they're hot shit and I think it opens a lot of doors for playful possibilities :)
