        Duck is a clumsy girl --- even her friends insist that she WALKS like her namesake; her gait is awkward and graceless ------ so it should come as no surprise when she RUNS SMACK INTO another and begins, naturally, running her mouth.

                “Oh!!  I’m sorry!  I didn’t see you ------ which is kinda funny, ‘cause you’re so tall, I’d have to be really blind not to!  But I’ve always been really clumsy and not very smart and I talk too much so it’s not really surprising I’d run into somebody so tall!  Not that there’s anything wrong with that, you’re really pretty!  I’m just really small and scrawny!  You look tough!”  If you look into her eyes you can see the girl BEGGING HERSELF to stop talking.

               “Hhhhhn..”     Vague, self-effacing sounds bubble from the child’s slouched over chest as she sits sprawled out on the sidewalk, the wheels of her skates still spinning. The tree she’s just bumped into looms nearby, and she rubs her knee with a defeated look.  | @jadesparked
