Cozy Night In - Roh Jae Won
Project Valentines Day - 4#
Warnings: nothing!
Jae Won wasn’t one to make a big spectacle of things, especially when it came to Valentine’s Day. He had never been a fan of crowded restaurants or extravagant gifts—he always preferred something quieter, something that felt more real.
So, when Valentine’s Day came around, he didn’t rush to buy flowers or make grand plans. Instead, he put his energy into something that he knew would make you smile—a cozy, intimate evening that would feel like a real reflection of how much he cared.
When you walked into his apartment, the soft glow of the lights and the warm scent of your favorite food filled the air. The room was simple—no roses, no over-the-top decorations—just a few candles scattered around and your favorite takeout on the table. It felt comforting, familiar, and like home.
“Hey,” he greeted, looking up from the small task he was focused on. He was dressed casually, in a hoodie and sweatpants, but there was something undeniably warm about the way he stood there, that easy smile playing at his lips. “I thought we could skip the usual Valentine’s stuff. I just wanted to spend the night with you.”
You smiled, your heart swelling. You loved that about him—that he didn’t need the over-the-top gestures to show he cared. He always found ways to make you feel special in the simplest ways.
“That sounds perfect,” you said, slipping your shoes off and making your way over to him. You kissed his cheek, feeling the warmth of him next to you.
The night unfolded easily, filled with laughter and conversation as you ate together. The food was nothing fancy, just your favorite comfort dishes—Chinese takeout and snacks, but it was exactly what you wanted. After dinner, the two of you settled on the couch, the dim light flickering in the background.
You turned to him, your legs tucked under you. “I can’t remember the last time I felt so relaxed. This is exactly what I needed.”
He glanced over at you, his expression soft. “Yeah, me too. I didn’t want to do anything complicated. Just… us, y’know?”
You nodded, feeling the weight of the moment settle in. It wasn’t the grandiose Valentine’s Day you had expected, but there was something more meaningful about it—the way he made sure everything felt so effortless.
As the evening went on, the conversation turned more serious, and Jae Won’s attention never wavered from you. He listened to every word you said, his focus fully on you. He had always been good at that, making you feel like the most important person in the room, even when it was just the two of you.
After a while, he stood up, walking over to a small bag he had tucked away on the shelf. He handed you a small gift—a simple bracelet, the silver delicate and elegant.
“I know we said no gifts,” he said quietly, “but I saw this, and it just felt right. I thought you’d like it.”
You opened the box, the bracelet gleaming in the soft light. It wasn’t expensive, but it was thoughtful, just like him. “Jae Won…” you murmured, touched by his gesture. “I love it. It’s perfect.”
He smiled, pulling you close and wrapping his arms around you. “Happy Valentine’s Day,” he whispered into your hair.
You hugged him tighter, feeling a warmth in your chest that went beyond the candlelight and the comfort of the food. “Happy Valentine’s Day,” you replied softly, leaning back to look at him. “This is all I ever needed.”
The night drifted on, the two of you curled up together on the couch, talking about everything and nothing. As the minutes passed, you realized that it wasn’t the extravagant things that made the night special—it was the simplicity of just being with someone who knew exactly how to make you feel loved.
