“there’s absolutely no way i’m going to personally ask chunghwa for more money.”
BOARDWALK DANCE ASKBOX MEME : currently open !
°☆.。.:* — “CHUNGHWA have really nice people. i’m sure you can find someone to help convince the board to give you more money!” junhwan starts with a small pout.
he’s never been one of those who define students by their schools. he really likes chunghwa and their students, rather than the obvious, and he’s sure that someone could help jaehyun. they were friends, after all. he only wishes that the other could stop being so pouty and say the same because junhwan could maybe even ask chunghwa for him.
and he even says so out loud.
“if you want ... i can ask for you,” he starts with another beaming smile towards jaehyun. “i mean we go to different schools and stuff but i’m sure they’ll understand, right? here, just give me your blazer again.”
maybe one act of kindness will finally stop the kurin student from taking his shoes.
( 양화대교 ).
yanghwa bridge at twilight is a sight to behold. dark blue bleeds into pale blue bleeds into warm pinks, bold reds; a backdrop to the imposing entity rising from the han river like some sea monster from a child’s vivid dreams. it makes yena realize that she’s missed seoul -- that she’d forgotten, in the midst of her frantic life, that this was the city she’d been born in, grew up with, knows the ins and outs of like she knows the veins on the back of her hands.
the idea of being home -- and staying home, for the first time in a long while -- means that the realities she’d spent years evading are catching up to her with alacrity. that the people she’d left behind are wrapping themselves around her once more; that she’s settling, like a plant that’s finally growing roots -- slowly, surely, and ( in most cases ) abstractly.
park jaehyun, for one, is definitely someone she hadn’t ever thought she’d be entangled with again. riverside rendezvous with her best friend’s ex-boyfriend probably doesn’t look quite right from anyone’s point of view, but she’s son yena and she doesn’t do things the right way. she does them her way. and it’s fun and he’s fun ( as fun as park jaehyun can be, anyway ) and she doesn’t feel anything about it, so it’s fine.
it’s fine.
( sms → 재현 ) the sunset was really nice today, your bad for missing it. ( sms → 재현 ) but it’s not raining so we’ll be able to see the stars pop up! ( sms → 재현 ) also bring snacks. sour gummies. thx

jinhai decides, he hates everything about park jaehyun.
“do you really have to question who’s going to win that basketball game tonight? it’s clearly going to be dongnam.”
ACADEMIA ASKBOX MEME : currently open !
°☆.。.:* — JUNHWAN couldn’t help but widen his eyes in surprise as jaehyun answered his question without any hesitation as worry was on the verge of spilling out of his throat. it was only a mere few hours before the basketball game between dongnam and kurin, and junhwan had pleaded jaehyun to visit him in practice for at least a few minutes but the other male had come just when junhwan was on the verge of absolutely losing it because what if i mess up? what if i’m not a good enough captain?
but then jaehyun says that and suddenly everything is alright again.
( despite what the other might say, jaehyun is really too good of a friend for him. )
“you really think so, jaehyunnie?” junhwan looks up from his position seated upon the gym floor and beams, smile wide and bright, as nervous fingers pick at the lace of his sneakers in worry. “i just ... i don’t know. your team had that whole army and i’m trying my best to keep my team together but we’re all freaking out and –– ”
junhwan interrupts himself to take a deep breath because he’s worrying so much and it’s maddening but he remembers that jaehyun actually believes in him so at least his worries are somewhat minimized.
“hey –– ” junhwan reaches over and bumps his fist against the other’s shoulder for a moment, gathering jaehyun’s attention. “thanks ... bro.”

#6: gentle peck
jinhai’s body is numb. he wonders why it’s his heart that feels the coldest.
he doesn’t remember when he started hating dance and piano. scrap that, noㅡhe hates how he’s forced into doing them like his life depends on it. he hates how even when he comes home with bruises all over his body and a pounding headache and just wants to drop dead on the spot, he can’t miss that one vital piano lesson or else his parents are going to be disappointed in him and god, that’s the last thing he wants.
disappointment is the word he hates the most but it’s a word that’s been popping up a lot around him recently. he can’t bring himself to show his face in front of the dance team members - especially jaehyun - after the performance that had been tainted with his mistake. he lies when he tells everyone that he’s fine with making a mistake despite being a little regretful, that he’s not perfect. it’s a lie, it’s all a lie.
zhou jinhai has to be perfect, there’s no excuse or space for mistakes.
he’s stopped by jaehyun on his way out to the dance studio. jinhai’s face is streaked with dry tearsㅡtears he’d spent too much time on, useless tears that won’t do anything other than make him appear weak. because that’s what he is. he doesn’t know what it is, but before the dance team leader can even speak, the younger engulfs him in a hug and a fresh wave of sobs rack his body.
jinhai pulls back, plants a peck on the elder’s mouth to just show his affection. it’s a kiss that barely lasts two seconds, but means everything gratitude, that after all this time, nobody’s tired of him just yet. that jaehyun isn’t tired of him yet.
“ hyung. ” he whispers, palms pressed to his eyes to keep the tears from flowing too freely. “ i’m so sorrㅡi’m.. i’m so sorry. i ruined it, i ruined everything. ”
“ i’ll try harder next time, i promise. just… please don’t be disappointed in me. please. ”

she’s supposed to feel sorry, she knows that much. she should apologize and offer some sort of compensation or recompense, but she can’t. not when she’s too busy giggling at the almost perfect way the colors of her paint have arranged themselves on his face, and the particularly bright orange spot on his nose in particular.
“it’s not like i did it on purpose,” she points out when oxygen flows more consistently in her lungs again. the smile is still there, as inescapable and unmoving as stone. “but i am sorry. is there something i can do to repay you?”
she offers him a moist towelette from her bag, but the sincerity of her words and actions is completely undermined by a new round of giggles that burst from her as she does so. goodness how she wishes she could capture this moment in a sketch. but he probably wouldn’t appreciate her asking him to stand still with paint drying on his face for however long while she did so.
