1ST STAR: MATEJ PEKAR (BARRIE COLTS) – 3G, 1A Matej Pekar‘s first career OHL hat-trick helped the Barrie Colts pull away from the London Knights with four third period goals, scoring a 6-2 win in their home opener. The Buffalo Sabres prospect scored three times and added an assist, capping his hat-trick with a goal from his knees to put things out of reach.
2ND STAR: JAMIE DRYSDALE (ERIE OTTERS) – 1G, 4A Sophomore defenceman Jamie Drysdale recorded a career-high five points as the Erie Otters skated to an 8-5 win in Hamilton. Drysdale’s night included a trio of primary assists along with his first goal of the season that came midway through the third period.
3RD STAR: JAKE DURHAM (FLINT FIREBIRDS) – 3G Jake Durham scored a hat-trick to help the Flint Firebirds defeat their Michigan state rival the Saginaw Spirit 4-1. The Firebirds crashed the party at Saginaw’s home opener with Durham playing a star role in the win.
