g’s art is fucking gorgeous. he’s been my go-to when i’ve wanted to commission something, including my banner, because his poses are so full of his life and his colours are just magical. i’m not brilliant at art analysis, but trust me when i say that i don’t need to know the proper terms for it to know that these pieces impact me on a very true level.
this lovely dirkkat piece is so special. they’re in a place that shouldn’t be intimate, and yet it very much is. the muted lighting and the fact that they occupy only a fraction of the space makes it feel very close and a bit like we’re intruding on them.
karkat’s absolute focus on dirk as he patches him up, dirk’s look of fondness and agreement to stop fighting just gives it this vibe like this is hurting karkat so much more than him and so of course he’ll stop. there’s love here, you can feel it.
seriously look at the movement in this jakefef. it’s beautiful. their expressions are so soft and precious and they just look happy. this is a common feature of g’s art, as is his healthy appreciation for rarepairs. and little things like the flickiness of feferi’s hair just give it this very g vibe, like it all takes place in a world that’s a little bit kinder.
in fact, his jakefef consistently conveys this. these pics are just so cute! i love the playfulness, the fact that they definitely know how hot they are and how close they are. they’re all over each other, casually connected as if there’s something magnetic going on. i could just stare at it all day, and in fact the one where both their eyes are closed was my background for a bit, a place of honour that several of g’s arts have occupied.
