She paced back and forth, lower lip curled beneath canine as she nibbled her bottom lip in a great deal of panic mixed with rapid thought. This had never been a part of their...’plans’. But...things...happened. Yes. Yes, these things happened to other couples all the time...At least that is what she mentally processed through to make herself feel a bit better. She never did like that feeling of secrecy, but as he slinked away to the office that morning, she had an agenda all her own. Yesterday she had one of her closer friends pick up a special test for her...a digital pregnancy test. All the signs were there: she was ‘late’, moody (moreso than usual), her body felt terribly foreign to her, not to mention with her little psionic capabilities, it was almost as if she felt the little life forming within her while it grew in heartbeat and nature. A little tiny peanut. Their peanut. As the timer buzzed, she darted back into the bathroom to check the results. At first panic arose, she knew he would either faint from anxiety, have a harsh go with his asthma, or--or he could take it perfectly fine. Regardless, Rachel’s first reaction was to begin to cry, tears of joy and tears of mortification. He or she would most likely be a mutant to some regard, --and she was drastically afraid to go this new journey alone, without her own mother present in her life merely because she never thought she would be good enough for her own special adventure. As the day quickly grew into the quiet darkness of night, Rachel had begun to find a numbing calmness about the pregnancy, but she needed her newlywed husband to be on par. She needed him to know. With the fireplace sparked to life, golden hues of whispering amber and bittersweet danced about the features of her face while bright azure irises studied the diamond upon her finger. A silent dimpled and closed-lip grin resonated upon her lips while she thought back on that beautiful day. It was hard to believe just how far they had come together, it drew a warmness to her tender heart. She must have dozed off in that very state, dreaming of all the lovely things to come. Finally, the click of the front door was an all too familiar note, and she drowsily sat up on the couch. Drawing her fingertips along her exhausted features, she slowly brought herself up to her feet. Head canted as he wrapped his arms around her petite figure from behind. Ray automatically rested her back to his chest, melting into his warm arms. She giggled at his response, her own heart all a flutter as it usually was when he came about. “Well, if ever I were uncertain Mr. Logan, you certainly have set the record straight.” She hummed, before softly turning herself about so she could cup his cheeks and gaze back into his adoring eyes. “I have some news.” she whispered, pads of her fingers stroking his cheek affectionately. “Been waiting all day to tell you. I would have said something sooner but I did not want to tell you over the phone. I wouldn’t be able to see your adorable face and well -- it just is not the sort of thing you discuss miles apart.” She wasn’t beating around the bush, no. Rachel just suddenly got nervous. What if he did not want to have kids right off the bat? What if...he never had wanted to have kids at all? Swallowing hard, she finally spoke in a far more timid tone, with an expression that was almost ashamed. “I’m...pregnant.”
