We're Jamming!

Autumn begins tomorrow. Thus, today, a rainy September day, is a perfect day to turn your own little back yard orchard glut (mine includes an apple tree, a plum tree and a pear tree; the two tiny figs my young fig tree bore this year fell off --helped by birds perhaps-- before growing), your foraged bounties and the last of the Summer fruit into delicious jams and jellies, to be enjoyed all Winter long, and beyond! So, We're Jamming, today, "and I hope you like jammin' too!" (Bob Marley makes an excellent soundtrack to cooking, by the way!)

It's Peach Time!

A friend from Colorado came to visit and brought me the usual offering of two cases of peaches. YUM! They are so ripe I need to convert them to jam today. Currently on the docket:

Im-Peach-Mint - peach with a hint of mint, totally appropriate in our current fascist climate

Ranna's Favorite Peach - peach paired with brandy

Steve's Favorite Peach - extra sweet, with lovely seasonings

I'm going to need to hit up the store for lemon and ginger before I get this show on the road. And I need to consider what else I can do with these peaches to retain their sunny yumminess.

In the apparent theme this house is having of things from yesterday continuing to today, guess who fucked with his eye so much he’s back in the goggles.

(He looks distinctly unhappy about this. Eyes narrowed from behind the blue-coloured swim goggles. He’s pouting)

In other news, I didn’t get to make jam yesterday, so I’m doing it today! (It does not look like she’s getting ready to make jam; it’s looks like she’s getting ready for a crime scene. The duo are in a lab of some kind today, plastic sheets are everywhere, and she’s wearing a plastic cover over her clothes and long gloves. Sam is also decked in plastic. The only thing that suggests any kind of jam is the basket of berries on the counter)
