Edit to add! Yeah, there’s a lot of unknowns about these guys, and some of them they aren’t going to want to talk about, but others are only hidden because it’s not come up in a conversation yet. So if you’re curious about something, just give an ask and chances are they’ll answer it.

(Conner is fiddling with something at his work bench, not really paying attention to his surroundings. In the background behind him, Celia is moving, slowly, sneaking, with a mischievous smile on her face. Not towards Conner, but to something the camera can’t quite see. She’s also holding something in her hands)

(She seems to get in reach of what’s she’s looking for, pauses. And then suddenly pounces towards something on the floor. There is immediate alarmed chittering and crashes as chaos erupts in that spot. Conner, previously obbliò us and now decidedly Not, throws back his head with a loud groan)

CELIA! Leave them alone! (He doesn’t even turn around to look)

But they’d look so cute with little party hats!

M!A a safe and perfectly edible two tier cake of Sam’s favorite flavor, the frosting being a different but complimentary flavor! It is decorated in assorted greens and some sparkler candles.

Make sure to not light it over streamers or anything! Hope that he has a good belated birthday celebration!

Where are we gonna store it until then?

Auncle can be forced to sacrifice some of his fridge until the day.

(The two look at each other at that, then Phil gives a shrug)

(At that, Katie’s face turns into a smile and she looks back to the camera) Very well then, that would be quite lovely. Thank you.

I had to go get supplies see? (He opens up a bag to show sets of paints and several brushes) So I’ve gotten paper, fabric, rope and ribbons, paints, all kinds of colours, and everything we’d need to put it all together!

What are you guys up to?

Shh! (Phil makes you the camera, with a conspiratory grin) It’s a surprise!

(Katie chuckles) We are preparing for a party for Samuel. His birthday unfortunately fell on what became day 2 of the December incidents. Then there were the actual holidays, then New Years Eve. And sadly it just kept being pushed back and back.

Dad promised a makeup celebration later this week, so we’re making decorations! (He holds up a few of the creations, some rather complex paper stars that look to be Katie’s handiwork)

(The camera bounces as Phil runs along the corridor, his arms full of bags and the camera only just staying safe. He seems to be sneaking, checking around corners before he hurries on his way. Eventually he reaches an unlabelled office, jumping on one foot to use the other to open the door)

I’ve got it all! He didn’t see me! (He announces proudly as he enters, dropping everything to the floor, including an unfortunate device)

(A second set of hands quickly catch it before it can hit the floor) Please be careful. But thank you. We should have everything now.

Huh, part II

(There’s a somber silence in the office. Eventually, Jack looks away)

I don’t think anyone else was meant to see that…

Why do I feel like that is going to end in a new scip and mountains of paperwork for me? I already get enough security breach chitchats cause of Pip!

Yay shadow spiders! Maybe you can catch and keep one as a pet?

I don’t want to keep one as a pet. I feel like they would be awful pets. Like when you see a regular spider, look away for thirty seconds, and when you look back it’s gone. Only unending and forever

(Jack’s in his office like usual, flipping on a touch screen and looking like he wants to drown in his cup of coffee)…Mmm, my meds make me see the shadow spiders…

"The dead can't hurt you" with Ash? That might be interesting.

The thumping of his heart is the only thing Sam hears. Despite the chaos going around him, he feels paralysed, trapped in his own body. There’s screaming and shouting, but despite everything, Sam only hears it like it’s muffled through water, like he’s detached from his body. His eyes are trapped on the sight of a panicked Phil, held in place with a gun to his head.

The man Sam didn’t recognise, or maybe he did, he no longer remembers, is holding Phil with one arm, and making sure they don’t get close with the other. The words of ‘demons’ and ‘unnatural abominations’ spit from his mouth, but Sam can barely hear them beyond it all. Every time the rest try to make a move, the gun is pressed harder against Phil. He can distantly hear Celia snarling, barely holding herself back, only doing so out of concern for their brother. What were they supposed to do?

The answer came from off to the side. A gun shot echoes and for a moment Sam feels his heart stop. But when the blood starts dripping, it comes from the head of the man, not Phil. Phil shakes the dead man’s hold and runs for the safety of the other siblings, who are joyous, but Sam’s gaze is only for the one who took the shot. Ash, standing down the corridor, unseen in the chaos, holding a gun. And Sam feels his heart sink.

He had never wanted Ash to get involved in this.

(Celia and Sam are in the kitchen together. She’s dual-wielding knives in a very unsafe manner while chopping vegetables as Sam stirs something in a soup pot. They’re chatting and laughing lightly together, a tablet between them as she points out stuff to him, much to his feigned annoyance)

(It’s a gentle Christmas Eve prep)

Hi Ash! Yep, we’re all okay! We had to go live for a bit at Auncle Diogenes’ off-site apartment but we’re not hurt.

(‘How have you been while we were gone?’)

Ash: "I'm glad you're all right. Nothing really notable's happened on my end that I can think of."

Things still going okay in The Library?

Ash: "As okay as always, which is nice; this really is the ideal place for me, Tres, and Dusty right now."

Ash: "Does your family have any plans for the holidays?"

If Dad can get time off work, we’ll do something on Christmas Eve.

(‘Otherwise we’ll sort of bounce between our aunts and uncles. There’s a lot of different religions and celebrations between them all and we’ve got open invitation to join most of it.’)

Uncle ‘Draki’s yearly Hanukkah celebrations have already started, even if it got a little…interrupted

(‘Anyway, are you three doing anything?’)

Ash: "That sounds fun! I'm glad ye have people t' spend the holidays with."

Ash: "As for me, not much; Dusty wants t' do some decorations, though, so Tres and I've been helpin' her with that. It's been fun."

Other anon, but I don't think it's been mentioned yet that the nap pile consists of 565's Dogwood, GS011's Experimenter and 565's Archivist (in that order, from bottom to top). Does that change your injury estimate in either direction?

Considering all of their long-standing track records, not even in the slightest! I never said the injuries all had to be intentionally inflicted
