The introduction of the bonus tracks on the albums can't be really pinpointed with any sort of a possible explanation, they were always there. However, I would say that some connection to their origin might be connected to the Japanese versions of the LPs. Many musicians release special editions of their records in Japan, where they add a couple of tunes. One such examples of this is the piece from The Magic Whip by Blur you can hear on the link. We've already discussed the platter and we've noticed how Blur managed to avoid the pitfalls of these reunion gatherings in the form of a disc, but this has all been made possible thanks to the fact the band members brought their knowledge from their side projects into a group effort.
