POSTER
Hi guys, I've made a second draft of the poster (Late I know), but let me know what you all think, if it needs any changes/improvements etc.
Sydney Theatre Company (Greening the Wharf)
Theatre has always stimulated both visionary conversations and practical action. In this tradition, STC has created an ambitious and multifaceted environmental sustainability project called Greening The Wharf under the leadership of Co-Artistic Directors Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton.
The scale and comprehensive approach to sustainability makes Greening The Wharf a first for any major theatre company globally. The program encompasses infrastructure projects, Company-wide behavioural change, environmentally responsible theatre production, community engagement and education. Aided by generous support from an array of partners, STC has invested in solar energy, rainwater harvesting, energy efficiency measures and best practice waste management.
Greening The Wharf continues to transform the beautiful, heritage-listed Wharf building, a NSW Government facility on iconic Sydney Harbour, into an inspirational and international example of environmental leadership in the 21st century.
Why hello again Without Words!
Viewing Without Words done by totally different companies was quite an experience and brought back a lot of memories. In physical theatre there is only so much you can do but these five groups succeeded in opening up my eyes to as wide as they could go. Everyone was of course a blank canvas (dressed in blacks) so they can be absolutely anything they want to be. There were some groups were the stories were made clear to me and some wasn't.
The dancers without words seemed more random to me but they are not actors so telling a story isn't important. But the movements were very exquisite and set a good start. Straight away i could see the classic looking to the side for reassurance by an actor/dancer. This is normally done by actors/dancers who arn't confident enough or who arn't used to what they are doing enough. But this wasn't a major issue, it just stood out to me.
The HND's group was absoutely hilarious and entertaining. They had a clear story and clear characters without using any words. I'm going to call it "A Bug's life". They had good acrobatics and risky movements which made my teeth grind at times, moves like that always do. But they pulled it off brilliantly. Phil Edmonds character stood out for comedy reasons.
The actors groups were very unique, each of them were very different. The last group was my personal favorite because of the music, the subtleness and the look in the actors eyes. The intensity in some of the actors eyes was really capturing. I believe this was Laura's group. The sounds were very calming and it could put you in a trance like state, if you will. The third group done by the actors was very risky and daring which i loved. They had some daring moves that could easily have ended in bumps and bruises or worse. So my hat goes off to them for being fearless for entertainment purposes.
Overall the Without Words groups pulled off more unique physical theatre and i didn't expect to be this impressed but they certainly achieved it!
