It was only one bottle. It was just the one bottle, and James could have gotten more. And yet here he was, staring down at his would-be protege (what the hell else could he call her?) while she tried to disguise the cerulean bottle in her hands. His fingertips twitched, only on his left hand, the hand that would normally have a single tablet in it for when everything got to be too much. But of course, Jamie wasn’t concerned with that—wasn’t interested in why he needed the fucking things.
"Jamie—now isn’t the time for games, precious,” his jaw was clenched despite the words, and he could have just shoved her away, grabbed his pills, and been on his way. But Jamie was fastidious at the worst of times, and without locking them away, she’d keep at it. Best to nip it in the bud, really.
"If you have the time to go through my things, you have time for a few jobs that need doing that I won’t be able to attend," His cheek twitched, the closest to a smile he could get anymore without… Well, he didn’t especially need to smile, anyway. It did tend to ruin the effect of his demands. His hand extended, palm-up, to accept the bottle even though it hadn’t been offered. "Jamie."
"I'm not gonna do 'em."
The words that fell from her crimson lips were foreign to say the least, but she meant them and the both of them knew that much. When she meant it; it was hard to convince her otherwise, love-struck idiot be damned.
She never liked the pills and she was not shy in the least in making it known. It was so artificial and dangerous; it was a shock to her how someone like him who valued his brain and himself living would use such a drug like this. Even knowing that it's medically-induced emotions was enough to make her not keen to it. Figures that she'd be stuck with someone who became addicted to it. Jamie needed to help him. She needed to.
"You can survive without this and I will help you."
With what seemed to be the best worst idea she had; she turned away and sprinted away from him; bottles in hand. It'd be a lashing for her later on that was for sure, but it'd be worth it it it meant she'd be able to help him see that he didn't need to rely on that.
