Roxanne thought Alice was an overbearing goody-two shoes. It took her months to accept James and Alice’s relationship.

Idk if you've been asked abput this before but do you have any funny story about James on his third year and his crush on Roxanne? I kinda love tem together c:
I haven’t! c:
Ooh okay, I don’t know about funny stories, but the other cousins certainly found it funny!
James is very bold and open normally, but when he likes someone he’s very private, so naturally his friendship group figured something was up — they pestered him for aaaaages to no avail. James figured that if he could tell someone, he’d tell Louis, because Lou’s a lot softer than the others so would probably have had the good sense to keep his mouth shut. In the end, he only told Lily when they all went home for the Christmas holidays, and she found it ever so delightful. Based on Lily’s beaming face, the gang (Fred/Roxanne/Lorcan/Louis) had worked out that the “crush” was one of the cousins, which explained why James was feeling so awkward.
There was silence on the matter until Christmas Day, which was when the group really went to town with it. They’d tried getting it out of Lily, but she’s just as stubborn as her oldest brother, so things were getting desperate. Roxanne had kinda figured it out herself by now, so stayed out of it. It wasn’t that the boys explicitly asked James on Christmas things like, “So is it Victoire???? Dominique????”, they just put their friend in very “convenient” situations with the girls — Lorcan hid mistletoe in the Christmas cracker James and Lucy pulled together; Fred shoved the cousins out of the way afterwards so that Rose and James ended up sitting by the fire with each other (Teddy still has a scar on his wrist from where he got thrown into a bookcase); Louis insisted on playing Spin the Bottle until James had kissed every girl in the room on the cheek*.
*Save for Roxanne, because Louis and the others thought the possibility of James fancying Roxanne was too ridiculous to ever be true since they were such good friends.
After Christmas ended, the gang gave it up as a lost cause. James got over his crush; Roxanne never admitted to him that she knew.
Everything was fine for years until Lysander, who had joined the friendship group in fourth year, gave the Best Man speech at James’s wedding when they were all like 26. He made a pretty funny joke about how James used to fancy Roxanne, and it took a few seconds to sink in, before Lorcan spat his drink over Victoire and Fred almost choked on the bit of cake he was eating. They were so outraged that what they’d spent the better part of half a year obsessing over had been right under their noses the whole time, but Roxanne just rolled her eyes and said it was their own fault for being so dim-witted.
Roxanne and James ended up living next to each other when they both finished Hogwarts.
