Close Call || Rina and Jamie || February 20, 2014
Rina huffed as she pulled Riley's carrier out of the car, trying her best not to jostle the sleeping infant. It had been a long day and she couldn't wait to get inside and relax, put Riley down, and enjoy a soak in the tub. That is if she could get the baby down without waking her up and then manage to clear all the baby stuff out of the way and run the water before she finished her nap. Oh the joys of motherhood. She couldn't help but long for the days when she could spend several hours in the tub reading a book and drinking wine.
She set the carrier on the pavement beside the car as she grabbed the diaper bag and her purse from the back seat. It was a lot to carry, she had two bags of groceries hanging off her left arm, and she sighed as she put the straps of the two bags over her shoulder and leaned down to grab the carrier. "Excuse me, miss?" a voice said suddenly, startling her. She straightened quickly and found a delivery man standing nearby on the sidewalk, a bouquet of flowers in his hands. "I'm trying to get up to number 416, can you buzz me in?" he asked. She froze, recognizing the number as her own. "Um...that's actually my place." She said in surprise, stepping around Riley to look at the clipboard he had. It indeed had her address and loft number and she frowned, looking to see who it was from.
The return said James Benson, and she frowned. Wasn't that one of the probationary agents training with the Bureau? She signed for the flowers and waited until the delivery man had left to read the card. "Just wanted to make your day brighter. Love you. -Jamie." She flipped the card over to see if there was anything on the other side but found nothing. "What the hell?" she asked aloud as she reread the card.
