i know i'm lame and annoying for never moving on from this, i know that i basically repeat this post every two months, but seeing some good hunger games meta only to have the tags/comments/replies/retweets/whatevers filled with a bunch of see it was never about the love story “intellectuals” will always be more annoying. i can't seem too understand why it's so difficult to comprehend that a story can have many equally important plot points that influence and depend on one another. i would say that even without the prequels love and romance are very central to the story and are its moving force, but especially after the way the prequels shaped the universe, love and romance have never had more of a narrative importance in this world. and it's not about whether the love story worked for you. maybe some of them didn't. maybe none of them did. but that doesn't mean they were written as a distraction or that they were merely used as a selling point. the last sentence of mockingjay being you love me real or nor real / real is not to be taken lightly. or as a lie. and you can freely criticize any of these choices if they didn't work for you but start making a distinction between what you cared (or didn't care) for and what's actually written in these books. because in the end, it very much was about the love stories.
