As strange as her situation was, Emma really should have seen this coming. Her mother always did tell her that trouble was her middle name and all of these years, she never put much merit to it until today. (Emma-Leigh Trouble Carick did have a nice ring to it though.)
Life after Division started strong, but spiralled just as quickly. Even before being trapped in a bunker, she wasn't meant for the average life with a normal job. Her addiction required for her to be mobile and he didn't want that. And she couldn't ask him to leave his life behind for her. So she left like she always did. In the wind she became someone else--anyone she wanted to be. She became a better thief, a better con woman, and most importantly a better killer. As it turned out people charged a lot of money to have someone murdered. Since she was already a murderer, adding more blood to her ledger wasn't as difficult as she thought it would be. It ate up at her some nights how easy it is to pull the trigger, but one jump from a skyscraper later and the world goes back to normal.
Not this time though. This time is different. She climbed up the side of the building with practiced ease. She had been sneaking into open windows for decades--though she knew her window wouldn't be open, despite living on a high floor. Still, it was nothing she couldn't get inside of, her years as a thief allowing her to pull the window up just enough to allow her to squeeze inside. The place was as clean as she expected it to be, everything in its place and the smell of an air freshener in the air. It was all incredibly normal. It was a little disarming to be in such an environment when she knew where she came from. Already knowing that she wasn't there, Emma walked around the apartment, peeking through what she had lying around until she heard the door open.
