Axe glared around the woods surrounding the cabins. There had to be some evidence of that dust smelling asshole around here somewhere.
He peered through the trees around him, but not even a leaf was out of place.
He stalked through the forest silently... every shadow was suspect... every sound... every movement that wasn't him- and sometimes, those, too.
It was quiet... not "too quiet" like the cliched saying, but the kind of quiet that came with the animals of the area knowing a killer was around, hunting.
The others all thought that he'd gone crazy and attacked (Y/n), but he knew he hadn't. She'd been being attacked when he got there. Paps had shouted for him, dragging him out of his almost hypnotized state, staring out the window at the storm raging. He'd immediately shortcutted to the lodge, wiping out his spare magic, landing near her luckily. He'd smelled the dust, the spark of magic and lv higher than his.
...
The wind rustled through some of the leaves, making a calming gentle woooosh sound...
Axe shook his skull, looking around.
...
He was looking for something....
Food?
No, his body was sated.
...
He pulled out the notebook he'd stuck next to his cleaver, holding it close to his good socket and blinking as he searched for the note he was on.
(Y/n). Some dust smelling asshole had attacked her. He was looking.... not luck so far. Paps kept asking where he was going, probably wouldn't take his vague answer forever... oh. The next note said he'd told him that he was hunting for who actually hurt her... Yes. Ok. He could make sense of this. He searched the next page seeing notes of his systematic search for the asshole, but didn't find any traces of him. It had to be another skeleton, though.
He headed on his way, still stalking through to not give away his presence.
Moments later, he found a clue; a pile of bark at the base of a tree. Climbing it, it seemed that someone had attacked the tree, leaving gouges deep in the wood. Axe nodded. This was who he was looking for.
He followed the trail, finding wood splinters every so often to keep him going. Another tree that had been attacked. ... another that seemed to be chewed on...
And then the trail disappeared. Not like the skeleton he'd been following had shortcutted and disappeared, but like they'd stopped their manic episode and gotten their shit together enough that they hid their trail again.
Where was that bastard?
Axe pondered for a moment, considering the options, but was interrupted by a scream-
(Y/n)! That was her scream!
Axe set off, moving faster than he had for a long time, giving a burst of magic to his speed, something he'd forgotten how to do until that moment.
He burst through the trees to see his and his brother's human on the ground, another version of him on her, dust just short of drifting off of him, and charged for them.
(Y/n) punched the dust covered skeleton off of her and Axe changed course to leap on his landing spot.
It all blurred together, swinging his cleaver, Red appearing- he met Red's eyelights and nodded. They stood a better chance working together, and they both wanted to protect (Y/n).
Red set up a blaster behind himself, a wall of bone on one side, and then took the other, Axe guarding the fourth and rushing forward, intent on corralling this dusty asshole into the attacks, cracking into a bit of marrow while at it, if possible.
The skeleton jumped up, and Axe followed, his cleaver swinging through the air, but the bastard shortcutted away.
"fuck!" Red cursed, looking around.
"THAT'S ALL... THAT'S ALL I CAN DO... I THINK IT'LL BE ENOUGH," Creampuff told Bun, sitting back.
Red looked longingly over at the three, obviously worried about (Y/n) in his own spiky way.
"go on, i'll track this dead man down."
Red looked back at him, over the trees, the nodded to him. "yell if ya need backup."
Axe gave a grunt in acknowledgment and rush into the trees.

Um, have you seen Jackal?? He's gorgeous! 😍 He's also dedicated, loving, protective, funny, caring, smart, sassy... He's amazing and I was pulled in by his charisma. I fell in love though with his determination to protect monsters in his city. He has so much love and care to give, he just needs the chance.
Why did he fall in love with me? I have no idea. I am nothing special. But if I had to pin it down, it was probably the fact that I am not afraid to stand up to him. I don't back down from any argument, and if you are wrong you will hear about it. I'm sure he at least thinks it is cute that someone will call him out on his bs.
