Seeing Double: Mirage & Jane (Weekly Challenge)

Mirage didn’t believe in monsters. Not ghosts or demons or any supernatural creature of the world. She knew men were worse than anything in the shadows, and that genetics could make someone into something more, not an ancient ritual or “curse.” She was a woman of science and logic more than anything. So why she always felt on edge during the month of Halloween was a strange thing. Maybe it was left over from her time as a child and all the Day of the Dead celebrations? Whatever it was, she was determined not to let it bother her. 

She sat at the table drumming her fingers along the smooth surface as she waited for her guest. She’d heard and read quite a lot about the woman who’d gone off into the jungles to learn and explore, and she admired that. So Mirage took up the opportunity to send the woman a letter asking if they could get to know each other. Ladies with bright minds who wouldn’t be unnerved by things like spirits and monsters. Right?

Loo Maji, Unirehemu || Jane and Aquata

Ooh, how did Aquata always get herself in these kind of predicaments? First, she loses her way to the Caribbean (not her fault, the directions she was given were wrong), then she gets caught in a whirlpool (her fault) and then, just when she thinks she’s free and when she’s swam upstream of a river, she get’s caught in a storm, thus flooding the river.

That wouldn’t be a problem, usually. It was this time, as Aquata didn’t know the territory and resorted to clinging to a tall tree for dear life. When the storm passed and the water level dropped, she found herself stranded on the land; the water was over 100 feet away from where she was.

How in the name of Neptune was she going to get back to the water?

Using all her strength, she attempted to pull herself over with her hands, then try rolling, then flopping, until she gave up. 

Sighing with defeat, and having barely made any process, the princess laid down on the dirt and tried to think of a plan on how to get back to the water.

Then something hit her, something she had forgotten during the storm.

She had no idea where she was, and thus knew nothing of the potential threats that were posed to her.

Elsa stared at the large log blocking her path. The jungle had many obstacles a Queen should never have to overcome. She pursed her lips before looking down at her dress, then hiking it up. She climbed over the log and once her feet were planted on the other side, she let her dress fall back around her legs.

It was hot and humid here, the ice Queen was definitely out of her element. Her cheeks were flushed and her hair was beginning to curl. She hoped to find someone out here soon, and fast. She blamed herself for not asking more specific directions.
