In the new year, I'm making some changes to how this blog operates. I'm going to be drawing from the same deck for a month, however many times that happens. I'm also going to incorporate a practice I was taught, reading the card at the bottom of the deck as "What It's Not."
The deck for January is Dreams of Gaia by Ravynne Phelan.
10 of Fire and The Youth.
The 10 of Fire as the main message is about mastery, not only of a skill or craft but of self. Setting goals and doing the work to achieve them, not be the best above others, but to face and meet the challenges.
The Youth in the What It's Not position means that while the year has turned again, this really is nothing new. Everything is a cycle, and a restart doesn't always mean a fresh start. The slate isn't clean, progress isn't erased, you're still building on the past. Use what you've built, to continue to build upon it so that you can continue to meet and overcome challenges.
Notice how the top of the stave frames the star. This is reminiscent of the World Tree/Axis Mundi/North Star Road, which is symbolic of spiritual progression and ascension towards communion with the Divine/Universe, "As Above So Below." This also mirrors the Chakras on 10 of Fire. Balancing Chakras is said to not only improve physical and mental health, but also ground you ("So Below") and open you to your higher purpose ("As Above"), letting you travel that ascending path, the Path to Mastery.
Follow your passions/heart, but be respectful in the process when confroted with information that may be conflicting. Don't shoot the messenger. It's a time to lead, not to follow. Express yourself as the Master instead of the Student, but still have humility and respect for differences. Confidence, not arrogance.
