#ParsonsxTeenVogue Retail Marketing Assignment For this assignment, we were tasked with visiting a local retail store and evaluating the "Visual Merchandising" and the design of the store. The first thing that I noticed about Kate Spade was is attactive windows. From the outside, you could see some of the clothes on display and window stickers unique to the company. I believe the inside of the store was purposefully painted white in its design because Kate Spade's creations are notoriously bright and full of interesting patterns; this automatically makes everything pop out. The store was so bright and clean, it was so pleasant to be there and it made me want to explore and buy everything. As for the store layout, The beginning of the store has the newest fashions and styles from the brand. There was a culmination of bags, just bags everywhere, which makes sense because her bags are another thing that her brand is known for. The layout of the store was elongated so as to not have the patrons feel like the location was flooded. The first half of the store was separated in half by the tables to better create a flow by the patrons. In the middle of the store, there was a section to connect the first half of the store to the second. This section had the accessoires that were available to purchase. The second half of the store had clothes that were a bit out of the typical Kate Spade look. There were shoes, handbags and dresses that weren't as colorful as the former half. A little bit further, the fitting rooms were located in the back. I tried to look for a place where there would be a sale but this location did not have one set up at the time. I realized that Kate Spade is too upscale for a repeating sales rack and that this type of clientele would be identified by mailing list, or in store of any special promotions going on at the time. All in all the experience was very insightful because if I were ever to have a brick & mortart store, I would want it to look very close to this store; with the exception of the lighting. I tend to go with darker colors and tones so I'd want the store to reflect that; more wood, darker lighting etc.
