Remember Ang TV? The gag-variety show that jumpstarted a lot of the Philippines' current stars' careers? You will remember the likes of Claudine Barreto, Camille Pratts, and Patrick Garcia... but never Marnie. For some reason however, I do. In fact, during the rare instance that Ang TV is brought up in conversation, she is the first person I think of. I don't know why. Anyhow, nobody really remembers her or if they do, they have no idea what has become of her.
Now, a lot of Bob Nicolas can be seen in Facebook lately, or at least that is the case in my network of photographers & videographers— they're all buzzing about Jolina Magdangal & Mark Escueta's recently released wedding & engagement videos.
Impressed by his "wedding films" approach, I decide to check more of his works out and by some twist of fate, I decide to click on this wedding of a Julien & Marie France. I watch it for a couple of times, it's really good, and eventually, I piece together that this Marie France could actually be Marnie!
And it was her! She's now a stage actress based in New York and from time to time, does small stints in TV shows. She can be seen in the opening of Gossip Girl's 5th season in the last scene with Blair as the seamstress putting on this weird accent. I am this descriptive because I went through the whole effort of downloading the episode.
This here (finally!) is a short film with another ex-Ang TV star, Jao Mapa. It's dedicated to all the crazy fan girls out there... or if it isn't, it should.
