April 23rd at The Whistler: Jared Bartman
We're super excited to welcome Jared Bartman to The Whistler on Wednesday, April 23rd. Here's a new video of Jared and his bandmates poolside, cooking up a live rendition of "Silver Screen".
April 23 at The Whistler: The Wars at Home, Jared Bartman
Jared Bartman is a songwriter, composer, and bandleader based in Peoria, IL. Bartman combines indie, American folk, Eastern European, and Afro-Cuban music with classical arrangements, and occasionally returning to his rock and roll roots. Bartman's live shows span from solo performances to large ensemble performances featuring vocal harmonies, string quartet, bass, and percussion accompaniment that recreates the vivid sonic pictures captured in his studio recordings. His new full-length record, Misery Makes Strange Bedfellows, was released in the fall of 2013.
My Favorites: 2013
I don't know if this will qualify as a "Best Of" list, because I didn't do as good a job as I would've liked keeping up with current music this year, but these are my favorite releases from 2013. Little Kid - River of Blood Jared Bartman - Misery Makes Strange Bedfellows Son Lux - Lanterns Pat Carroll - Glow in the Dark Besides Daniel - This Marvelous Grief The Eastern Sea - Plague (this album was technically released in 2012, but I'm including it because it was released on vinyl this year through Dilated Time and I just discovered it this year) Frank Schweikhardt - Kitchen Table Look 'em up!
'Jared Bartman - In Belize'
- Some bright indie folk goodness is the order of today's post. It's got violins in it and everything.
