good fuck i feel dumber for having listened to that crew of shitheads interviewing tys. i had to hit pause my brain was hurting and omfg i still have 20mins to go shoot me shoot me now plssss i hate you so much nate for putting me through this
Nate's wedding
tys officiated nate's wedding; his first time doing so at a friend's wedding, usually best man/groomsman. was neither at nate's wedding, only officiant
tys planned nate's bachelor party
Chilly Ones
the only thing that would calm down intense nate postgame early on in their careers was "a chilly one" so that's where the beer name came from
some brewmasters reached out to tys to make a beer and so tys reached out to his friends "am i crazy to want to make Chilly Ones real?" they supported it, wanted to pitch in $
there's 18 ex & active nhl'er investors; some he can be public about, others not. biz hinted that one that they can't name is "a future av" a.k.a. biz's hrpf dream-- sid
biz is 1yr sober come nov i think? but he's willing to break it for a Chilly One. i... uh ok.
a lot of the chilly ones profits will be invested into charitable endeavours, tys is really proud of that
chilly ones upcoming marketing with an olympian
Avs
in that '16 season where avs were blowing chunks, bednar called nate, tys and (factor i think? i can't remember. pls don't make me rewind and listen to their voices again😭) into his office and instead of tearing em a new one for partying so much, he simply told them to pick their spots wisely. they came out of his office "did he just encourage us to continue partying??!" and so for the remaining 13 games, that's just what they did 🤝 following boss' directions
tys doesn't mind not having won the '22 cup, he feels he was a part of it, what he did made an impact, got them to that spot, plus his trade got naz and he was a very big part of that cup run
avs is his "second home" 🥹
Sidebar on biz:
biz did steer the convo pretty nicely at the start bc he recognized tys as being pretty straightlaced/pro with the interview instead of being loose with friends
"if you hadn't been traded from avs you wouldn't have had the chance to meet so many ppl and become so many ppls friends and be at every wedding" and tys was like very nicely having his perspective shifted on the spot?? good for him. biz is insightful about his hockey peers (i mean, to a limit, but he's def gained some interviewing skills I'll admit)
Leafs
leafs: tys loves loves LOVES mitchy
was a weird shortened season with leafs. first off, babcock was coach and everyone replied "ugghhhh" so that was omg heavenly to hear ty ty you idiots DID learn something!! then covid so not as much media swarming as aus & mitchy would usually have, so he didn't get the full hockey mecca media feel
tys fully believes mitchy will be the it factor for vgk to get another cup this season or soon; but also a good canadian boy who thinks leafs cup is possible before it
tys on mitchy in vgk: he's gonna feel such relief coming off game 32 or so and not having cameras in his face (meaning yea he'll have a lot of media up top but soon enough it'll dwindle down to normal non-cdn hockey town levels)
Oilers
biz brought up drai a lot-- he REALLY wishes he could've been at his wedding beeee him be wiiiith him man is hottt, biz is merely human.
Flames & retirement
tys knew the writing was on the wall with retirement so he made sure to enjoy his last season enjoying all the ppl ("i love making friends" how cute is that)
didn't realize everyone would start asking "you retired?!" when he played the avs alumni game this summer, so he very quickly put that retirement post together
tys will be making plans to go to friends games when they roadie vs. canucks or krakens
tys has been hitting up biz for post retirement media career advice. so he's going to try it, maybe a podcast?
20mins left to go. idk maybe I'll listen later or not. those messy bitches were unraveling fast
