5/17/2017: Jared Hoying hits his first Major League home run.
Sorry, allow me to clarify. I meant less so 'there can only be one and we did it first' and more so 'there can only be one cuz it just feels WRONG to hear it for someone else.' I figured it probably didn't originate with Cubs fans since I've only really seen them complain about his lack of offense. But to me that just makes it feel all the more wrong when he's not all that beloved by fans (from an outsider's perspective anyway) and they only use it when he's decent. Oh well, sharing is caring
It’s all good, anon friend. I still like “J-Hey Kid and J-Hay Adult,” hahaha. Yeah, Braves fans adored Heyward; but to my knowledge, no one has given him the affection he deserves since. (This is probably because he hasn’t performed as well as was projected when he was a big ticket free agent last winter. But! His current team is the favorite to win the World Series, so I feel like you kinda gotta let bygones be bygones, right?) I like Heyward, though, so I’m biased.
I vote that the Pirates aquire Heyward, and pick up Jared Hoying from the Rangers, and have the Hay-Hey-Hoy squad lead us to victory in the 2017 season. 👍
