Hey guys, sorry I’ve been so quiet - I’m currently in deadline crunch for a really exciting new project. So after a couple of years of dayjob work, mental health issues and a big ol’ relocation, I’m proud and excited to say that I’m back on the horse and working fulltime on a graphic novel set in the Cleverman universe. This brilliant TV series features an 80% Indigenous Australian cast and is a dystopic story with mythical elements centred around the Cleverman, a hero created by producer/writer Ryan Griffen because he wanted to tell a story featuring an indigenous superhero that youth could identify with.  Cleverman is available on Netflix USA and UK (not in australia, dammit, or my screenshot references would be easier). The first issue will be out very soon, and I will keep you posted about it! The story is written by Ryan Griffen and Wolfgang Bylsma, and art is by moi. This project means a lot to us and we’re hugely excited to be bringing the Cleverman universe to the page. Here’s a sneaky preview of a new character debuting in season 2, Jarli, having a run-in with an automated chicken feeder.

 okay i have so many thoughts about the season two finale of Cleverman that I need to go to sleep and write them up tomorrow night at which point they may make even less sense.

but one thing: what the fuck was the purpose of Audie even?! Seriously. Does our show not know what to do with a young white girl other than have her shag Koen and be snarky at him?

Also, I would have liked Latani to have done more this season. But then I remembered how frightened she was at the start of season one, and that puts her transformation into so much perspective. I am so proud of that girl, never more so than when she claimed her right to exist and smashed that fucken Hendricks in the face like he so richly deserved. And then even more when she calmly refused Jarli’s call to violence. The hard lessons she’s learned, that girl.
