Jar of life
So the first story is “Jar of life” I know a lot of you have already heard this but hey it’s ok to brush up few things and those who haven’t be my guest.
and if you are wondering that why is this the first story? Well you will know that by the end of this article
“Jar of life” was told by a Professor to his students in a physiology class and to me by my papa. Let’s get into the story:
There are 4 characters in this
1. Mr. Jar aka life 2. The Rock(s) aka most important stuffs in life - like Family and friends, Physical and mental Health, Nature and me time 3. Pebbly Pebbles aka important stuffs in life - Like work I do, stationary, Doing my taxes and bills, socialising, making sustainable choices 4. Mr. Sand aka least important stuffs in life - like getting agitated over news and WhatsApp forwards, point of views, social expectations
By the way this is my list, as we all are grown ups here, you can categories your priorities accordingly but whatever you do, do it wisely! Also, when I say “stuffs” don’t judge me coz that’s only for contextual purpose :)
So, the professor not the money heist one, one who is in the class in front his students, brings out these 4 characters and put in front of his students, and hold the Jar in his hand
He fills the jar with rocks and ask his students “ is the jar full?” They all say “yess”
he puts some pebbly pebbles as the rocks are big chunks there some room left for Pebbles, and again ask his students “is the jar full?” They all say “Yes”
This time he put the sand in the bottle as there are gaps left in between the rock and pebble, Mr. Sand just fits in those gaps, and this time again the professor asks “is the jar full now?” They all say “Yesss”
Now, as the Jar is our life and if we put the sand first, the least, very least important things first in it, there are barely any space left for rocks and pebbles.
Same happens if we put the pebbles first, they are also tiny and tightly packed that they barely leave any space for other priorities.
We all have these 3 characters in our jar of life but a lot of our mental health status depends upon who are our Rock, pebble and sand.
Hope this makes sense that why is this the first story!
