what are the differences in jarovit's personality when he's around those he's close to, familiar with, etc?
Around characters he doesn't have much of a bond with he's very prone to zoning out. For people who don't know him this makes him come off as pissed all the time, but for people who know him well enough they know he's just not paying attention. He's not super open to making any new connections either which can cause this brick wall effect if anyone new tries to talk to him at all, especially since he doesn't even give any sort of response, not even a grumble here and there. When he does speak, he's direct and blunt, often refusing to say more than what he has to before leaving the scene and has very low tolerance for time wasting conversations. He doesn't really hate others by default, but its easy to view it that way, Jarovit is just introverted and depressed.
With people he's close to though, it tends to vary. He'd probably still zone out around Kilo simply because Kilo will talk his ear off. But around Druskav or Rowen he's generally more focused and fine with mundane chatter. For Rowen especially, he used to find his constant chatter entertaining and is more than a little sad Rowen doesn't even talk that much anymore.
Jarovits overall demeanor is kinda the same regardless if you're close or not, generally uptight and looks annoyed, and only really softens around Rowen. What changes is how the other person perceives him as they get closer usually. The big main outlier is how he treats Hewlett compared to literally everyone else, as the only case where he goes out of his way to be intentionally meanspirited with someone
