Blue eyes narrowed towards the other for a moment as the words were processed. As much as Jase wanted to argue, he knew Jericho had a bit of a point. Trust wasn’t something that came easy to the blond. When he was a kid he had been exposed to some harsh teasing, bullying even because his family wasn’t rich. And it didn’t affect him much-- or least enough to where he noticed it, but it did make him leery of people. He thought that would change as he got older, that he’d be able to see what the real world was capable of.

And he did, but it was worse than he could have ever imagined. He started working at a young age, in an environment he had no business being around. He saw the worst of humanity, the scum of the earth, and some of them even considered him a friend. In the position he was currently in, he didn’t have it to extend his circle any further past the few who were engulfed in it. “Just be happy you managed to slip through the cracks.” He finally replied as a shrug rolled off his shoulders. His expression softened a bit as he spoke the words. “First time we met I thought you were an undercover.” He admitted with a bit of a grin on his lips; an attempt to lighten the mood between them.

Jase was beyond exhausted. His boss was starting to trust him more, promoting to more involved-but more importantly: better paying- jobs. This latest task involved going out of state! His boss’s usual errand boy got locked up a few days prior, so he was the lucky one tasked with crossing the state border carrying a few questionable-looking packages. It took a great deal of effort, especially considering he had no car nor a license to drive it, but eventually he made sure everything got done and nobody got caught. The only problem was he felt like hell afterward. His body ached from being stuck inside a cramped passenger’s seat, the imbecile driving him accidentally closed his hand in the car door — and he was on hour thirty-six of no sleep. It was a miracle he even made it inside his trailer, but he did. He set the stack of cash he received as a reward on the dresser and took a moment to admire it. It was then his sleepiness finally caught up to him, and he was curled up on the floor before he was able to even think of fighting it.

He had only been out for ten, maybe twenty minutes by the time Levi found him. Not very long at all. He was a bit of a heavy sleeper, so he really only started to wake up when he was first lifted off the ground. “Hmm- I, what?” He spoke (somewhat), but his brain was still half asleep. He stared blankly around the room for a few seconds. His gaze lingered on Levi, and it only a moment later he realized the taller had not been there when he initially fell out. Though, the details were still a little fuzzy even to him. But after a few more moments of being conscious, he was able to find the energy to speak once more. “What’re you doing here?” He murmured, his tone soft as his body remained relaxed in his arms.
