Wedding - Daya Betty x Bosco
Bosco had noticed Daya acting jittery for the past few weeks, and Daya told her it was because of the previous incident at the club, where Gigi was shot. While it was true Daya was still worried about herself and Bosco working there, that wasn't really why she was jittery, and Bosco wanted to know why.
"You don't think it's work stress at all? I mean, maybe she felt like she couldn't protect you, even though she's part of the security team" Gigi shrugs, taking a sip of her coffee. "No, that's not it. There's something else. It's a different type of weird than what she usually is, you know?" Bosco tries to explain, surprised that Gigi nods in understanding. "When Jasmine acts in a different brand of weird than her usual self, it's usually because she feels nervous about telling me something, even something small like forgetting to get apples from the grocery store" Gigi offers. "Thank god we have the same girlfriend in a different font" Bosco sighs happily, finishing her cigarette. "What does that mean?" Gigi chuckles. "Hello? ADHD lesbians with their weird quirks and obsessions. Mine's in punk rock font and yours is in dancer font" Bosco shrugs, laughing lightly. "That... is a pretty accurate way to describe them actually" "Told you. Now I just have to figure out what Daya's afraid to tell me".
Daya and Bosco briefly talked about marriage when they were high once, and had laughed it off. But Daya thought it would be a good idea, a nice idea. It would make a lot of things easier for them, and they're in love. Bosco also didn't really have an issue with bugs, and Daya's dog liked Bosco's cat, which were the most important things for Daya. Daya also liked the idea of calling Bosco her wife. So, it made sense. She just needed to find a really cool ring, cooler than the other ones they've bought together.
When Bosco got back home, she found Daya doing bicep curls with the cat and dog. She really was insane and weird, and Bosco loved her for it. "Hi babe! I got us pasta and cheesecake" "Are you trying to go into diabetic shock?" "It's okay, we're sharing so like, not all the sugar will attack me" Daya shrugs, putting Fendi and Tito down, who both scurry away. "You're such a genius" "You think?" Daya perks up, smiling at Bosco. "I know so. My pretty genius" Bosco walks up to her, and ruffles her hair a bit, Daya's favorite thing. "God, you're like a puppy. My punk pup" Bosco decides on the new nickname and Daya starts laughing. "What?" "Punk pup... P-P" "Oh my god, you are such a teenage boy" Bosco laughs, her forehead pressed against Daya's. "Let's eat before our shift?" "Yeah, I'm starving".
As they ate, Daya didn't seem as jittery as she has been, which made Bosco think it really was work stress. But still, she just had a gut feeling that something was different.
Every time Daya got the chance to be alone, she went out looking for rings. Because she couldn't decide between black and silver, she settled on looking for rings that had both colors. It made the search harder but it was worth it. Bosco had been suspicious of her time out, always wanting to join, but Daya would make some stupid joke that got her out of the apartment alone. Daya didn't want to ask Gigi for advice, not because she didn't trust her, but because she knew Gigi would get anxious about making sure it was a perfect ring and proposal. Daya wanted it to be fun, light-hearted.
In the following weeks, Daya managed to get two matching silver-black rings, simple bands really. But they were silver and had a black snake design. But she hadn't realized that Bosco started acted weirdly towards her.
Bosco, still suspicious from her gut feeling, kept on asking Gigi about it. "Sco, you're starting to sound like me" "I can't help it. She's been weirder than usual" "You said it yourself, our girlfriends are the same but in different fonts. I stopped questioning when Jasmine gets weirder than normal. I've accepted that sometimes I'll wake up to her doing handstands at 4 am with a croissant in her mouth" Gigi shrugs, hoping the example would ease Bosco. "What the actual fuck?" Bosco looks confused. "I know, she scared the shit out of me. I really don't think there's anything to worry about" Gigi shrugs. "Fine, fine. You're right. Handstands with a croissant in the mouth is weirder than going out alone" "Exactly".
"I wanna go out on a date tonight" Daya demands with a smile, catching Bosco off guard. "Now? After our shift?" Bosco chuckles. "Yeah, we can do like, a walk, maybe grab a drink" "Sure, we should get changed first" Bosco agrees. Maybe she was wrong to think that something was off.
After getting dropped home by Gigi and changing, they walk by their neighborhood and stop by a small pub. They share a basket of fries and drink white wine, laughing at each other's jokes. They don't stay for longer than an hour, and then continue their walk. "This was cute" Bosco wraps her arm around Daya's. "It was. But we should've gotten dessert" "You have a shitty diet for a diabetic" Bosco teases. Daya just shrugs. "It's okay, I know you'd beat my ass if I let anything happen. But the only issue is that I'd like it" "Oh god" Bosco laughs, then is weirded out by Daya untangling their arms. She stops, looking for something in her pocket. "What's wrong?" "Nothing! I just need to... got it!" Daya pulls out a small box. "What the - " "Bosco" Daya starts, then gets down on one knee. "Holy shit" "You are the love of my life. You are my person, my everything. I can't imagine not being with you. Will you marry me?" Daya pops the question, opening the box. Bosco's jaw drops, staring wide-eyed at Daya. This is why she was weird. Daya and Bosco stare at each other for a few seconds, Daya waiting while Bosco was in shock. "Holy fuck, oh my god, yes, fuck yes!" Bosco finally smiles, and Daya smiles back. "Finally, my knee was hurting" "Shut up you dork. I love you" "I love you too" Daya smiles, trying to hide a small tear as she places the ring on Bosco's finger, and the other one on her own.
