Wow, I’ve reached 420 followers! Time to celebrate!
We know Monty’s family grew all the pharmaceuticals on the Ark, so to celebrate this auspicious number I’m sharing a recipe for medicinal caramels. Who knows? This could have been one of the preparations in Momma Greens’s recipe box.
Hannah Green’s CannaCaramels
Ingredients:
1 cup cannabutter (for the non-medicinal variety, use unsalted butter or ghee)
2 1/4 cups brown sugar
pinch of salt
1 cup light corn syrup
1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Melt the butter in a big, high-walled saucepan. You’ll be stirring the mixture continuously as it heats up, so you’ll need plenty of room.
Stir in the brown sugar and salt until smooth.
Add the sweetened condensed milk - keep stirring!
Cook the mixture until it reaches 245-250 degrees. When it cools, it will be a semi-hard candy. Cooking it to lesser temps will result in a softer caramel.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
Pour the mixture into a parchment paper-lined 9″x13″ pan and let it cool.
It will cool into a large slab of caramel candy. Cut it up into the sizes you like, wrap them in cellophane and voila!
