Today I walked for: @jasperislington, his Uprights Joe and Robin; for every dog and their people who have suffered through the DM Journey. We can work to prevent future heartbreak by improving the minimum breeding standard practices to require DNA testing of both dame and sire, removing dogs from the breeding sector who are double carriers and only carefully breeding those who carry the trait with non carriers. We the dog loving people of the world MUST be the ones leading this charge as long as for profit breeders and breed clubs who have no scruples exist. Jasper's generation should have been among the last to suffer this disease as a test was developed when he was a puppy. It only costs $35 per dog, which is nothing in the context of breeding healthy dogs that will not know the suffering of genetic diseases. Yet to this day, there are breeders and breed clubs who refuse to acknowledge the preventable nature of this disease for greed alone. We the dog loving community cannot permit this to continue. Please go see @shadeoutdm for more information on how you can help all of us protect future generations of dogs and provide aide to those making this difficult journey. Jasper, it is my promise to your legacy and the kindness of your people, that I will continue this fight until the day comes that this disease is a thing of the past. 🐾❤🐾 #shadeoutdm #TeamJasper #JasperForever (at Pekin, Illinois) https://www.instagram.com/p/CH37q8NJCp6/?igshid=v0h9xuobss6n
