The Singapore Connection - An interview with Louise Jasper
The is not the first time I have the pleasure to interview a designer but it is the first time I am actually uploading a Blogpost that is in essence an Interview.
If you follow my for a while in Instagram you know that I collaborate with Louise to be exactly for already 1 year. As I am proofing for errors I found this...
This was my first Jasper Living Outfit, I can remember very well that moment. It was the first dress I got for my new Insta page and I had to shoot it well, so I searched for a nice Berlin modern building and we did the Shoot.
I still love this pic and the dress has that emotional connection to a moment. It won´t go anywhere. That dress will be around in my Wardrobe until my girls steal it from me.
You are a mom, a businnes owner, an expat and I am sure there is so much more... tell me something about you what we don't see in Instagram…
I am Danish but living in Singapore for almost 9 years now. Married to Kristian for over 12 years, we have two children, Mie is 10 years old - and Konrad is 7 years - both at the German European School in Singapore.
So I am dedicated “Soccer Mom” ( laugh 🤪 ), following my son to soccer practice 2- 3 times a week and matches on Sundays, he is playing for Borussia Moenchenglabach Academic Singapore. I love chatting with the other football parents, we are a mix of Europeans and Singaporeans.
I even met my husband on the football field watching our favourite Danish team playing in 1994, so football is and have always been a big passion.
Your clothing are very important to my Wardrobe, they give me comfort and print which is something very much needed in winter times. I can do almost anything... I am curious about your inspiration to create your line and where does your love for print comes from?
THANK YOU ️. I love to get inspiration from the streets when traveling - especially Copenhagen and Tokyo are two of my favorite inspiration sources. I have a lot of stylish friends, who all inspires me as well.
I am buying way too many fashion magazines, but I love them and I will cut out pictures of prints, styles - and ideas - and make big collages in my office.
Isabel Marant is my favourite designer, I love the way she mix and style a feminine flower print skirt with a sweatshirt and small boots or sneakers.
I have a very good supplier in India who inspires me with beautiful and colourful prints - and the good thing is, that we are using leftover fabrics from bigger orders from other customers. So that’s a really good feeling. So each styles we produce are in limited edition.
Have you ever been to South America?
NO, but would love to go. I lived one year in Houston, Texas - but we never went south of the boarder. My daughter Mie and I have a dream of going together, but that will be one day when she is older and we are based in Europe.
YES, many times . I growth up in Denmark, in Jutland - only 3 hours drive from the German Boarder.
What's the most beautiful thing about being a designer? Any bad side of it?
I love to see customers trying on my dresses - and feel good and smile! The “bad" is that you have to creative the whole time, the customers expect you to come with something new and beautiful, that can be a little stressful sometimes. It is also annoying if you have some styles that just not sell a lot - and that happens.
Tell us your favorite pieces or trends for summer 2019
One of My favorite outfit this summer ( now I live in the summer all year, but I missing the Autumn/Winter outfit a lot ) is the the MINI Frill Skirt I have made in a lot of different prints - I will mix it with a T-shirt with a funny slogan on or a denim shirt. I will wear small gold sneakers or flat sandals. I will also live in one of the long printed maxi dresses - and wear a denim or leather jacket for the cold summer nights in Denmark.
Well I say thank you Louise for doing this interview with me, you miss Denmark and I miss Argentina. You are a soccer mom and I am a tennis mom. You wear sneakers and me too actually specially with your clothing, I just prefer the pictures with a little bit of a heel..if you know what I mean...anyways my point is, what do we have in common?
I can tell you one thing, Singapore.
I feel your clothing have connected me with the vibe of Singapore and I truly need this living in long winters. I know many women in Germany need those comfort summery inspired styles too.
So if you are among those women who long for summer breezy days get to Louise´s page and have a look at the new styles, by the way I really want that new green print...
I have to wait until the next Blogpost I hope...
Again thank you to the readers,
Loads of good feelings to you,
