Got around to the beach drawings aayyyyyy
Wowoahh Miss Spider art heheh
I was gonna add Mr Centipede I was tired af so that can wait at the time (idk I’m just kind lazy but I am tired)
I'm slow
like, really REALLY slow,
so I don't have enough time to get all the art I want done/finished of my 'Trotter Peach Stone' (a mock-pitchbible for a sequel series to the 96 film ala 101 Dalmatian Street) musings. Highkey, the characters from James and the Giant Peach are hard to draw, even when simplified, and that's before attempting any serious design updates/dialogue and new characters. I do plan to make a few comics that fit into my continuity much in the same way I make joke comics as well as stories over on @thetownwecallhome, but no massive sketchdump of real mock-pitches at the moment, sadly.
I have original work that comes before my recreational fan fictions/fan fic ideas.
That said, here are a list of things that DO happen within my continuing adventures for the Trotter family that feel in line with the kind of nonchalant insanity fitting of JatGP's tone. NOTE: I have hidden five definitely fake scenarios among the ones I know would be part of my own canon. If you can correctly guess which ones are fake, I'll find a way to give you/get you something. Maybe a sketch or a colored picture even. Anyway the events in my continuity include:
the bugs all have first names besides just being known as 'Mr/Mrs. 'animal name'.
the bugs are able to legally adopt James.
Mrs. Ladybug wears Prada.
Mrs. Ladybug keeps a gun in her handbag.
no, the bugs don't have life expectancy of irl bugs that's too depressing. They also were not 'elevated' into being able to talk or understand anything because of the peach magic- they legit just got bigger. I'd absolutely make a flashback episode that shows what the insects lives were like before meeting James, which I showed a bit of over on my Deviantart (third image).
at some point in the story, the Trotters come across a talking monkey, giraffe and pelican failing to convince everyone else that they're human, but go along with their ruse to help them live a relatively normal life instead of returning to the zoo.
Mr. Earthworm experiences head trauma.
we get an explanation as to how Mr. Grasshopper's eye was damaged. No, I will not let uninteresting visual details not be addressed.
James makes friends with a girl in his class who is afraid of bugs. Wawaa.
Grasshopper and Centipede have a horrible day out at Yankee stadium together.
the Aunts are alive and repeatedly escape/try escaping jail.
Mrs. Ladybug reconnects with her children.
Miss Spider is not actually a true 'miss'.
Miss Spider is actually an inter-dimensional demon.
There are references to two very much NOT-for kids stories; A Clockwork Orange and Naked Lunch. Don't worry, no one dies.
James forms the Roald Dahl protagonists-Avengers and fights the Vermicious Knids alongside Charlie Bucket and Matilda.
James meets a real rhino and overcomes his fear of them.
Mr. Earthworm has a whole set of adventures all his own while exploring the underground subways of New York.
Mr. Earthworm meets an underground civilization of creatures who ride talking alligators and has a soft romance with their queen.
the main antagonist for the Trotters, besides the Aunts, is a crazed entomologist who believes in an asinine insect god and thinks the bugs are a sign of his deities' second-coming; the bugs already hate him before finding out this fact, because they caught him being mean to James.
the bugs are not good drivers.
cockroaches are considered bombshells in the insect world.
because of their love/affinity to seagulls for helping them on their journey, the Trotters convert to Mormonism.
Grasshopper has a fear of ants (as in the animal, not James' Aunts).
Grasshopper and James bond over the opera. Sort of.
James and the bugs have never been to a movie theater before; though some of the bugs think they have in the past.
Mr. Centipede explains how he ended up in Europe.
Mr. Centipede has mommy issues.
Mr. Centipede experiences two great loses.
Mr. Centipede has been dead this whole time and no one else but James could see him.
the police officer at the end of the movie is named and is a reoccurring character. Sadly, no, his name is not Susan.
Grasshopper has seriously undiagnosed stage fright.
Mrs. Ladybug is not a good cook whatsoever.
Spider and Centipede do officially become an item, but it takes her seeing him change his entire persona to impress her that triggers it.
Ms. Glowworm has an entire history none of the other Trotters are even aware of.
Miss Spider and Mrs. Ladybug are touched to be treated as James' mums for Mother's Day.
Miss Spider meets Stan Lee.
James and the bugs travel back to England to face the house on the hill again. They blow it up (no bugs were harmed).
Miss Spider betrays her truest self and dresses in bright clothes for a day.
Mr. Centipede and Mrs. Ladybug have an unusual (for one of them) shared pastime.
the Trotter's first Thanksgiving Day parade is weird.
no one adopts a dog but somebody does adopt a bird.
other Roald Dahl stories exists within the continuity of the Selick film.
James rides on the back of an unlikely animal.
the statue of liberty is, in fact, a battle mech.
Jack Skellington, anyone from Halloween Town, or anyone from Frankenweenie/Vincent DO NOT make any appearances. Get that Burton trash out of here.
The movie takes place in the same universe as Little Shop of Horrors and the Trotters have to survive the Audrey II-pocalypse.
James is a time traveler and is revealed to be the old man from the beginning, going back in time to free his younger self.
more JATGP test sketches from 2 months ago that I decided to colour in because why not
Spider’s film design is so hard to try and draw consistently
earthworm perhaps? :3
I actually wanted to mess with brushes and shapes for him, he look easy to draw but he’s fun to draw, I’ve drawn him before but I used a screenshot for reference
Very unamused
So WHO was gonna tell me theres a movie with BUGS A N D FOUND FAMILY!?!??!
Mr Grasshopper doodles
When the hyperfixation hits hard u gotta draw ur personal favs-
