as an agnostic theist i feel this soooo hard. all i know is that no one can know for sure, and even though i have my specific beliefs i'm aware that there are so many other ideas out there, and there's room for every dialogue and every doubt
yeah man i feel you. tbh i think a fully gnostic position on either end of the spectrum (a 1 or 7 if you dig the dawkins scale) is pretty arrogant/ridiculous.
i think a lot of it stems from the desire on both sides' behalf to oversimplify religion? because it makes it an easier sell if you're a christian who's saying "this is it, i know this is it, you're wrong if you don't accept it" and if you're an atheist who's saying the same thing, it makes it much much easier to mock and demonize religion in order to make yourself look more secure.
